Effoy Children's Charity (ECC) was founded on a deep commitment to never forget vulnerable children. In August 2026, the board of the former Emahoy Romanwork Children’s Charity (ERCC) established Effoy Children’s Charity (ECC) to carry forward its legacy of compassion, care, and unwavering service to children in need across Ethiopia. For countless children facing poverty, hunger, displacement, and the loss of opportunity, life can feel uncertain and painfully unfair. Many go to sleep without enough food, access to education, or the comfort of knowing someone is there for them. ECC exists for those children — the forgotten, the vulnerable, and the voiceless.

The name “Effoy,” meaning “a sigh of relief” in Amharic, reflects the hope we strive to bring into every child’s life. A sigh of relief for the orphan who finally feels safe. For the child who can return to school instead of the streets. For the family that no longer has to choose between survival and their child’s future.

Our logo symbolizes the innocence, joy, and carefree spirit of childhood—a world where children can laugh, dream, and grow without the world’s worries or burdens weighing on their shoulders. It represents our vision of a brighter future where every child feels safe, loved, and free to embrace the simple joys of being a child.
